Unrequited

Unrequited

To how do we know not to push any further—

The viewer decides the limit of the sea to sky

To where edges meet.

Rejected in waves,

Perpetual thunderbolts

To the chest.

Can't you look beyond

The piercing rays of sunlight – be

Blinded no more?

Like the boat to the sea,

Only used for scenery.

Or is the sea too clear

Too far too deep,

You make eye contact with yourself

In the mirror hanging

Behind me.

I notice, pretend to ignore.

Drowned to the pits

Of the wounded ocean

To rise again no more.
